The best music from Arkhangelsk
From punk about bastards to nordic metal. Let’s listen to the best music from Arkhangelsk region which is situated in the north of Russia.

As a member of the "Сугревушка" (Sugrevushka) folk culture club, I first appeared on stage in 1992 at the age of three, thanks to my grandmother, who literally carried me there in her arms. Since then, I have been passionately fond of pure, unadulterated folklore. Listen to this chant, this northern prayer will live for centuries and generations.
Sugrevushka and Nina Markova "Kak zalyagalo krasnoye solntse" ("How did the red sun set")
Moon Far Away "Olyushka"
A band that needs no introduction among neofolk fans. They have recorded quite a lot of authentic material and transformed it into such an unusual sound.
Yakor "Ukusi Sil'ney" ("Bite Me Harder")
Here is an excellent example of high-quality metal music from the outlands — more precisely, straight from the shores of the White Sea, from Onega. Pain, suffering, emptiness — all this intertwines with oppressive despair in the ballads of Якорь. All the hopes are buried by the Onega snowstorm, and nothing bright awaits the lyrical subject.
SIx Dead Bulgarians
"Otdala Menya Mamen'ka" ("My mother left me"
Along with Moon Far Away, since the mid-90s they have been an perfect example of a competent use of folklore material. Underground music that is extremely careful with preserving the traditions of the northern folk song.
Cafe Van Gogh "Ublyudok" ("Bastard")
The north is largely chthonic and somewhat sedate. But even though these guys also do not write the most cheerful lyrics, there is more than enough energy in their tracks. Perhaps, one of the most important bands of the modern northern scene.
